I am a Senior Yoga Teacher registered with Yoga Alliance Professionals, an Ayurveda Consultant and a Reiki Practioner.
I remember when I first started doing yoga. It made me feel like what I thought was a completely different person - it was a revelation. But a few years down the line I realised that it hadn’t changed who I was but it had made me be truly me. The person I thought I was wasn’t really who I was; it was the result of a lot of external factors piled on top of each other. Yoga gave me time, even just an hour on the mat, to strip all of that other stuff away and with time, that person could be found off the mat as well as on it.
People come to their first yoga class for many different reasons - to improve physical health, a bit of downtime, a recommendation or just to see what all the fuss is about. Whatever brings someone to the mat, I am dedicated to helping them feel the magic that I felt when I started and continue to feel now. Sometimes it happens in the first class, sometimes it takes a little longer but yoga is growing in popularity and there must be a reason!
I am based in Reigate, Surrey and have been teaching yoga since 2014.
I have been fascinated with Ayurveda since I first heard about it and as yoga’s sister science, I gradually learnt more and more about it over the last few years; initially learning what changes I could make in my life to be healthier but then progressing to learn more about how Ayurveda could help others. The diet and lifestyle aspect of Ayurveda particularly interested me as I’ve always felt that what we eat plays a major part in how we feel. I also know, from personal experience, that lifestyle changes big or small can have a massive impact on our sense of well being.
My Reiki journey began unexpectedly. As someone who is not interested in therapies as I tend to shy away from anything that forces me to stay still for longer than 10 minutes. However, after being asked to help on a Reiki course that needed an extra recipient, I realised the power of this healing therapy and decided to take the course myself.
I love spending time outdoors and spend many hours pottering around my slightly messy allotment. I am a huge advocate of growing your own food, even if all you have room for is a pot of herbs on the windowsill (which is how I started). I experiment in different methods of growing, generally using a combination of the biodynamic calendar and permaculture. I have completed a Permaculture Design Course and am a firm believer in the three ethics of permaculture (earth care, people care and fair share) which I try to bring into different aspects of my life.
My Training and Yoga Practice
My initial training was in Vinyasa Flow with Avani Yoga. I subsequently took two Yin training courses with Norman Blair and completed my Total Yoga Nidra Teacher and Facilitator training with the Yoga Nidra Network. In addition to these trainings, I have also completed courses / workshops in Chair Yoga, Yoga for Teens, Pranayama among others.
I am a qualified Ayurveda Diet and Lifestyle Consultant and completed this qualification with Ayurveda Pura Academy.
I completed my Reiki 1 and 2 Training with Davinder Kaur at Bliss Blossom Wellbeing.
I continue to practice by attending regular classes in Classic Yoga, Vinyasa, Ashtanga and Yin as well as my own meditation practice.
